“The opposite of play
is not work,
it is depression.”
– Brian Sutton Smith
For Whom?: For 12 creative women who want to unleash their creativity & enjoy a super fun weekend with kindred spirits, including me as your guide along with super extra special guest teacher Nan Seymour. Did I mention she’s amazing?
When?: Friday July 31st 7-9pm, Saturday and Sunday August 1-2 10am-5:30pm
Where?: Salt Lake City: Mostly @ Metric Yoga @ 88 Q St. + mornings and lunches a few blocks away @ my home @ 823 1st Ave
What?: A super-fun weekend of creative play and embodied practice. We’ll write words, rip paper, take photos, move our bodies, play with paint in ways that please us, do some Feldy lessons, and share our stories in a community of kind kindred spirits.
How?: We’ll grow creativity by practicing courage. Don’t worry, it’s easy. Genius arises from the depths of us and always expresses something unique and meaningful. We’ll simply make enticing invitations for that to happen with ease. We’ll befriend the life-force moving through us by offering playful invitations: Paper and pen, paint and glue, a gorgeous studio in which to move your body, all in an atmosphere of safety, encouragement, and love.
Why? Howard Thurman says it so well.
“There is something in every one of you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself.
It is the only true guide you will ever have.
And if you cannot hear it, you will all of your life spend your days on the ends of strings that somebody else pulls.“
How Much? $379 includes: Yummy snacks & drinks, all art supplies, delicious catered lunches + a full summer weekend of juicy inspiration, delightful guided creative experiences, embodied practices, awesome community & lots of love. Friday 7-9, Saturday 10-5:30, Sunday 10-5:30.
Oh me, oh my, I am so excited for this weekend!!!

(We’ll have just 12 participants plus myself & super extra special guest teacher Nan Seymour who will guide us in the practice of River Writing. I’m confident that you’ll love it and I guarantee you’ll love Nan!)
The retreat will be held at Metric Yoga @ 88 Q St. in SLC plus morning sessions and catered lunches at my home just a few blocks away.
What we will explore through many different “ways in” is how we can get out of our own way, be spontaneous, and let something come through us, restoring that natural creativity we all knew as children.
The intent is not so much for you to make beautiful artwork, though that may happen, but for you to experience the freedom of bravely, curiously following your own thread, and then take that brave practice into your life in the days and years afterward. Yippee!
paper, and enjoy connecting with each other. If we have time, we may also play with our voices, take a photo walk, and more. We’ll definitely enjoy good food, share laughter and perhaps a few tears, and I bet you’ll meet a few of your new dearest friends.
You’ll agree to check your inner critic at the door (or at least hold gently that criticizing voice without believing it), agree to be kind to yourself and others, and grow a willingness to befriend your creativity, just for the fun of it. For a whole spacious weekend.
