Just to the end of a solo dad week here while Erin had the chance to do a week long retreat with one of her mentors, Donna Farhi, in Seattle. The newsletter is a bit late, the dishes are not done, and I have a huge amount of respect for all the single moms and dads out there- we know some amazing ones who pull it off with such grace and elegance. You should all be celebrated, knighted and given national holidays.
I wanted to share a poem that has been alive for me through the week, from a beloved Irish poet, John O’Donohue.
Awaken to the mystery of being here
and enter the quiet immensity of your own presence.
Have joy and peace in the temple of your senses.
Receive encouragement when new frontiers beckon.
Respond to the call of your gift and the courage to
follow its path.
Let the flame of anger free you of all falsity.
May warmth of heart keep your presence aflame.
May anxiety never linger about you.
May your outer dignity mirror an inner dignity of
Take time to celebrate the quiet miracles that seek
Be consoled in the secret symmetry of your soul.
May you experience each day as a sacred gift woven
around the heart of wonder.
Oh, I just love that! “Awaken to the mystery of being here, and enter the quiet immensity of your own presence” what if that was your aspiration as you began your day? I think that would be a good day.
May you enter in the quiet immensity of your presence as you read this now…
Best to you,
