About Erin

Meet Erin             unnamed

Hi! I’m so happy you’re here!

I love reading personal details on other people’s sites.  In case you do too, I decided to share some of my own.

I love movement, meditation, and brave self-friendship. I’m a mama, writer, inspirer, mentor, encourager, listener, lifeong-learner, and an asker of really good questions.

I love reading poetry every day.

I choose turquoise over diamonds and a farmers’ market over a mall. Every. single. time.

I love to be barefoot as often as possible.

While some people have power animals, my husband jokingly calls homemade organic popcorn with lots of butter my “power vegetable.” I make damn good popcorn.

I love love love books. Reading them, buying them, smelling them, touching them, reflecting on them, stacking them, admiring them. Books make me happy. I have piles of books in every room in my house.

Twice, I was fortunate to go on silent solo meditation retreats in a remote cabin in the mountains of Crestone, Colorado, for 2 months each time. People asked, “Wasn’t it hard?” No. It was the most safe and relaxing experience of my life.  I wish it weren’t so, but I find living in modern culture is much harder. I look forward to my son being old enough that I can do long solo retreats again. I’ve been blessed to do countless group meditation retreats. I love retreat.

lanternsIn 1995, I was blessed to spend 3 months living between a Buddhist nunnery and a monastery in Nepal. I got to meet and spend quality time with Dzogchen master Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche in the months before he died, as well as with his son, my teacher Tsoknyi Rinpoche. I’m forever grateful. It changed my life.

I love to move my body for the joy of it. I have never loved exercise.

I’ve been called an old soul since I was a young child. I’m thrilled when I find a silver hair on my head. I have about four.

When I have a full head of silver hair, I hope to have the combined superpowers of Maya Angelou, Mary Oliver, Georgia O’Keefe, Pina Bausch, Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Russell Delman, Brother David Steindl-Rast, Ruthy Alon, Mr. Rogers, and Pema Chodron. All rolled into one. And, of course, myself.

I love real connection. Small talk drains me. This quote makes deep sense. “Let’s clear one thing up: Introverts do not hate small talk because we dislike people. We hate small talk because we hate the barrier it creates between people.” – Laurie Helgoe

Easy is good.” I try to embody that in as many areas of my life as I can. I also love when my callings grow me beyond my comfort zone.

I believe in kindness. And wisdom. And that wisdom without kindness is not very wise at all.

I’m an INFJ Scorpio Ox, and my top 3 strengths are Connectedness, Empathy, and Positivity.

I really like being alive. A lot.
